Strange processes at the edge of the everyday:

The artist's direct actions, real-time recordings from elsewhere, concealed clues to further contexts, temporarily positioned equipment, isolated objects on revocation, paths and detours, processes and cycles at the edge to the tautological, energy consumption and feeding on another level, hermetic masquerades and inviting gestures, disappointed expectations and moments given. The language of words is left out, yet there is room for wit. A precarious balance of possibilities.
The rules of this game are opaque, but here and there motifs and forms return: memory and image are spatially separated, past and present are crossed, anatomy and mind are short-circuited, body and sculpture oscillate between stability and dissolution. It looks almost like nothing and yet holds you in place, surprises you with sudden moments of intimacy, can possibly turn into catastrophe or redemption at any time.
...Expression, turning of the innermost to the outside, conscious abandonment, controlled use of the ego and at the same time withdrawal of the person, so that art can become possible at the place of these manipulations and transformations: Pushing open the door to the labyrinth "world", seeking balance on the smooth curvature of its surface.

Julian Heynen (From the preface of the catalogue of the exhibition "Double Trouble" at the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Krefeld 1999)
