Toombstone Walk 2014
Toombstone Walk stands in the tradition of the artist's running works.
The artist thematizes the run to the place of performance or to the exhibition as a theme and work itself. The connecting element - like an umbilical cord - is the run between the locations.
Leaving this "outside" of the actual exhibition space, this work on the event horizon, as the artist puts it, is a basic experience of his artistic work and has become an artistic principle. The exhibition space as a hole. All events around it define this hole.

Toombstone Walk steht in der Tradition der Laufarbeiten des Künstlers.
Der Künstler thematisiert darin den Lauf zum Aufführungsort bzw. zur Ausstellung als Thema und Arbeit selbst. Verbindendes Element - gleich einer Nabelschnur - ist der Lauf zwischen den Orten.
Dieses „aussen vor lassen" des eigentlichen Ausstellungsraumes, dieses Arbeiten am Ereignishorizont, wie der Künstler es formuliert, ist eine Grunderfahrung seiner künstlerischen Arbeit und ist zum künstlerisches Prinzip geworden. Der Ausstellungsraum als Loch. Alle Ereignisse darumherum definieren dieses Loch.

Toombstone Walk was an exhibition in a room that once housed a hardware store. This hardware store was called Toommarkt. The research showed that there was still an existing "living" Toommarkt. The idea was to combine these two different contexts. In the "dead" Toommarkt there were no more shopping carts. So the work consisted of stealing a new shopping cart for one euro from the existing DIY store and taking it to the premises of the no longer existing DIY store. The object remains the same, only the context changes.
The shopping trolley was thus to become the tombstone of the "deceased" DIY store. The path was recorded in real time by a camera on the body at belly button height. The monitor on which the video was to be played later found its place in the shopping cart. Put down like a consumer good just bought. The car itself stood by the door and did not occupy the exhibition space.
Toombstone Walk is the combination of Toom(markt) and the English word toombstone for gravestone.
This is how the Grabstein Run was born. The umbilical cord, as video, preserved in its entirety and not cut through.
Toombstone Walk war eine Ausstellung in einem Raum, der früher einmal einen Baumarkt beherbergte. Dieser Baumarkt hieß Toommarkt. Die Recherche ergab, daß es noch einen existierenden“lebendigen“ Toommarkt gab. Die Idee war, diese beiden unterschiedlichen Kontexte miteinander zu verbinden. Im „toten“ Toommarkt gab es keine Einkaufswagen mehr. Die Arbeit bestand also darin, einen neuen Einkaufswagen für einen Euro vom existierenden Baumarkt zu entwenden und ihn zu den Räumlichkeiten des nicht mehr existenten Baumarktes zu bringen. Der Gegenstand bleibt gleich, nur der Kontext ändert sich.
Der Einkaufswagen sollte so zum Grabstein des „verstorbenen“ Baumarktes werden. Der Weg wurde von einer am Körper befindlichen Kamera, in Bauchnabel-Höhe, in Echtzeit aufgezeichnet. Der Monitor auf dem das Video später abgespielt werden sollte fand Platz in dem Einkaufswagen. Hineingelegt wie ein gerade eingekauftes Konsumgut. Der Wagen selbst stand bei der Tür und beanspruchte den Ausstellungsraum nicht.
Toombstone Walk ist die Kombination aus Toom(markt) und dem englische Wort toombstone für Grabstein.
So war der Grabstein-Lauf geboren. Die Nabelschnur, als Video, in Gänze erhalten und nicht durchgeschnitten.
