I always have One thing in my head in (contemplative action) 1994.
The starting point of the work was the idea of letting a thought directly become form. If possible, without using any aids.
Space, room and performance were understood as a brain and each divided into two halves. In the room 9 square plates (20x20cm) of fresh clay were fixed to the left and right wall at head height. The performer in the middle connects both halves with his action. The performer is opposed by a video monitor on which the preparation of the so called Circulus- arteriosus cerebri-Willisii can be seen. This connects the two halves of the brain and supplies them with oxygen. During this first part of the work, the artist stands in front of a plastic bottle of water and, collecting himself, watches the film.
The second part of the video shows how the brain is laminated eight times. In this way, 18 discs are created corresponding to the two halves of the brain. With each cut, the artist makes a violent punch with his forehead against one of the clay plates. After each head-butt, the artist goes to the center of the room and frees his forehead from the remains of clay with a jet of water from the plastic bottle. Analogous to this, the video shows how after each cut the knife is held under a jet of water and cleaned.

During the subsequent exhibition, the headbutts are shown on a second monitor. This is placed opposite the first monitor, standing on the floor.
